Here is a real-life story from a scientist and a writer-author. I have three women in my family, - a wife and two daughters. All of them have the highest degrees from the most reputed institutions of learning. One day I found that my wife put a white chador (hijab-like cloth) on her head and went to the mosque for prayer. I was horrified, to say the least. I had been used to see my elder sister and mother/grandmother/mother-in-law put a secure "ghomta" when they used to pray. How come this (KKK-type) "hijab" in this house and this time?! I was told by the lady-in-my-family that this was the Islamic dressing code. Arab dressing code, may be? No! It is THE Islamic dressing code for women. The Fatwa,- the lady was told! Frantically, I wrote to my two daughters; and asked them to interven in it, lest my friends will gossip that Momin Bhai in his old age pressured "Bhabi" to put on "hijab"! I could hear both of them laughing their heads off when they got my e-mail, - one was then cruising the Mediterranian and the other delivering lecturs at the McGill University. I have a son. He told me, - Dad, simmer down! Mom will be ok. Amen!
